CLARITY Resources

CLARITY is a European project that reimagines climate education, helping children and youth move from climate anxiety to resilience, connection, creativity, and regeneration.

Here you will find a practical toolbox of ready-to-use activities for transformative climate resilience education, alongside complementary resources. These CLARITY resources were developed in collaboration with teachers, educators, young people, and experts across Europe.

Some of the resources can be used independently, but using them together offers a deeper understanding and helps you get more out of the tools and approaches.

Climate education for children and youth is at a turning point. Learners often see charts of rising CO₂ and hear stories of loss and damage long before they master the skills to regulate their emotions or picture a regenerative future. This leads to rising climate anxiety, and feelings of helplessness. 

The CLARITY project—Transformative Climate Resilience Education for Children and Youth: From Climate Anxiety to Resilience, Creativity, Connection & Regeneration—was created to close this gap by placing emotional wellbeing, imagination, and collective agency at the heart of learning.

The structure of the CLARITY resources

1. Foundational Knowledge
   • Literature Review – The research foundation for the project, highlighting why emotional competence, imagination, and regenerative thinking are critical for climate education.
   • Competence Framework – Adapted from the EU GreenComp framework, now including the competences children and youth need for coping with climate emotions and the effects of climate change.
   • Policy Brief – Recommendations for policymakers and education systems to integrate emotional wellbeing and transformative climate learning.
2. Practical Implementation
   • Toolbox – Step-by-step activities for teachers and educators to use with their learners. Practical tools to nurture emotional resilience, imagination, connection, and regeneration.
3. Support for Educators
   • Teacher’s Guide – A document providing pedagogical guidance and trauma-informed principles to help implement the toolbox.
   • Self-paced Course – Flexible online training introducing the toolbox and key concepts, helping educators build competences themselves before using the tools with learners.
   • CLARITY Online Community – A space for educators to share experiences, ask questions, and connect with others working on transformative climate resilience education.
