A self-paced introduction to the CLARITY toolbox — and to the deeper pedagogical principles, sequencing strategies and trauma-informed practices that bring its activities to life.
Many young people learn alarming climate facts before they develop the emotional skills or imagination needed to cope with them. The CLARITY project responds to this gap by placing emotional competence, imagination, values and collective agency at the heart of climate education. The toolbox offers practical, ready-to-use activities — and this self-paced online course shows you how to use them in ways that truly build competence over time.
The course ensures that educators have the opportunity to build their own transformative skills and competencies before teaching their learners. The materials contribute to the continuous professional development of educators, by building capacities for innovative and competence-based teaching.
Grounded in theCLARITY competence framework for transformative climate resilience education, the course walks you through the key ideas behind the toolbox. You will learn not only how to use the toolbox, but why these approaches strengthen young people’s wellbeing and inspire them to engage in climate resilience and regeneration.
Through short videos and selected sections from the teacher’s guide and the toolbox, you will explore themes such as climate emotions and climate trauma, connection with oneself, others and nature, value-based learning, futures thinking, and collective action.
The course is entirely self-paced and free of charge.
When you complete the final assessment, you will receive a certificate of completion issued by the CLARITY partner organisations.
